Police arrested a Florida woman after neighbors noticed naked toddlers wandering around their neighborhood.

Heidy Teressa Diaz-Torres, 25 — who was arrested in Hialeah on Thursday, April 24, two days after the incident — now faces a felony child neglect charge, according to Miami-Dade County public records.

An arrest report from the Hialeah Police Department stated that two women discovered the naked children, ages 1 and 3, wandering near their home in the 700 block of West 37th Street at around 3:30 p.m. local time on April 22. according to local news outlet WPLG.

One of the children told the women where they lived, at which point the women walked them home, according to the police report obtained by WPLG. However, when one of the women knocked on a window of the house, the mother “shrugged and waved her off,” per the police report.

That’s when the women notified police of the situation, WPLG reported.

“When approaching the residence, officers witnessed the children walk outside unsupervised and the mother was not in sight,” the report stated.

Authorities then entered the residence “believing the children could be in further danger” and found Diaz-Torres seemingly “under the influence of an unknown substance.”

The police report stated that upon entering the home, authorities “observed two pipes with residue of suspected methamphetamine in plain view,” per WPLG, which added that police called child services shortly thereafter.

PEOPLE reached out to the Hialeah Police Department as well as the attorney for the defendant on Sunday, April 27, but did not receive immediate responses.

Diaz-Torres’s bond is $2,500. Her hearing date is on May 23.
