A year after a newborn baby was found dead in a dumpster in Texas, the child’s mother has been charged with capital murder in connection with the infant’s death.
In July 2024, the infant was found in a suitcase that had been discarded in a dumpster in Fort Worth, Texas, the city’s police department said, according to reports from WFAA, NBCDFW and CBS Texas.
Forth Worth police told PEOPLE said the mother, Courtney Minor, was arrested in connection with the incident.
The outlets reported that police said Minor was seen rolling the suitcase to a dumpster, the outlets reported.

Minor allegedly confessed to throwing the suitcase containing the baby — who was still alive at the time — into the dumpster, police told PEOPLE.
Jail records indicate that Minor is being held on $500,000 bail. She is charged with capital murder of a child under the age of 10 and abuse of a corpse without legal authority.
It is not immediately clear if Minor has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
