A woman was found dead inside a ”large cardboard box” in the Arizona desert.
Authorities responded to a call regarding “a suspicious package” in a “remote desert area” east of Kingman on Sept. 5, according to a press release shared by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on Oct. 3.
The caller stated that he had discovered a “large cardboard box” while surveying his property and that he believed a “deceased person” was inside it.
“Detectives were called to the scene and confirmed there was a deceased female subject inside the box. Fingerprints were taken from the victim and the victim was later identified as Carolyn Ann Bosher, 57, a transient of Las Vegas,” the statement continued.
Police said that another person on the scene stated that he had observed a vehicle “with the trunk open the night prior” in the area where the body was discovered.
However, the man said he was unable to identify the vehicle because “it was dark outside,” per the statement.

The MCSO said they made contact with their counterparts at the Las Vegas Metro Police Department (LVMPD) and were told that the victim had been arrested in Las Vegas on charges of indecent exposure the week prior, on Aug. 30.
Authorities said there’s no indication that the victim was killed at the scene.
An investigation is currently ongoing, and the MCSO urges anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact their agency at 928-753-0753 and reference DR# 25-033587.
PEOPLE reached out to the MCSO and LVMPD for comment on Sunday, Oct. 5, but did not receive an immediate response.
