NEED TO KNOW

  • Morgan Duncan went missing on Nov. 28, 2023, from Columbia, S.C.
  • Eric Greene was arrested and charged with Duncan’s murder in February 2024
  • Season 2 of Netflix’s Missing: Dead or Alive? explores the case

Netflix’s Missing: Dead or Alive season 2 explores the haunting case of Morgan Duncan, shedding new light on his disappearance and the disturbing investigation that followed.

Duncan, a 27-year-old father of two, vanished from his residence at the Springtree Apartments in Columbia, S.C., on Nov. 28, 2023. When deputies from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department conducted a welfare check, they discovered an unsettling scene: Duncan’s phone, wallet and medications were still inside the apartment.

The investigation took a dark turn in February 2024 when authorities arrested Eric Greene, a local drug dealer, and charged him with murder, per WIS News 10. Witness statements later indicated that Greene had targeted Duncan, who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was described by prosecutors as a vulnerable adult. Over the months that followed, Duncan’s remains were discovered in two locations across Richland County, according to WIS News 10.

“He didn’t do anything to deserve what happened to him,” Duncan’s mother, LaTanza Duncan, told WIS News 10 in January 2025. “He didn’t do it to himself, and we have to protect those who can’t protect themselves.”

So, where is Eric Greene now? Here’s everything to know about the South Carolina drug dealer and why he killed Morgan Duncan.

Who is Eric Greene?

Greene, who goes by the nickname “Easy,” is a Columbia, S.C.–based drug dealer who became the central figure in the murder investigation of Morgan Duncan, whom he called his “friend” in Netflix’s Missing: Dead or Alive season 2.

Greene lived at the Springtree Apartments, where Duncan also resided. At the time of his arrest in February 2024, Greene was already on probation for previous drug convictions, per WIS News 10.

Why did Eric Greene kill Morgan Duncan?

Investigators concluded that Duncan’s murder was triggered by a dispute over a $300 drug debt owed to Greene. Duncan allegedly attempted to reason with Greene, assuring him that he would repay the money after receiving his next paycheck, according to accounts in Missing: Dead or Alive. Despite this, the situation rapidly escalated.

Witnesses later told police that they saw Greene physically assaulting Duncan inside his apartment, per Missing: Dead or Alive. Their testimony described a tense and aggressive confrontation, which ultimately resulted in Greene strangling Duncan.

Greene was arrested on Feb. 1, 2024, and was charged with Duncan’s murder.

In the months that followed, Duncan’s remains were discovered in two separate locations within Richland County, per WIS News 10. Partial remains were first found in the woods behind the Richland Library in June 2024, and additional remains were later recovered from a storm drain in December 2024.

While Greene repeatedly maintained his innocence — even claiming in court he had “nothing to do with why [Duncan went] missing” — he was ultimately convicted of murder on July 18, 2025, per WTOC.

A judge sentenced him to 57 years in prison, a decision that brought some closure to Duncan’s family, who described Duncan as a vulnerable young father who had been preyed upon by someone he trusted.

Greene is currently serving this sentence in the Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia. He filed an appeal less than one week after his sentencing, according to WIS News 10.

Where are Julivia Waller and Jerome Harper now?

Two other individuals, Julivia Waller, also known as “Sunshine,” and Jerome Harper, faced charges of accessory after the fact in connection with Duncan’s murder, which could have included assisting in moving or hiding Duncan’s remains or otherwise covering up evidence.

A judge ultimately delivered a not guilty verdict for Waller on July 23, 2025, per WACH Fox 57, while Harper’s case remains unresolved.

Waller spent 528 days in jail following her arrest on the accessory charge. After being cleared, her attorney, Carl B. Grant, spoke to the press, emphasizing the personal toll of the ordeal.

“Can you imagine someone accusing you of doing something so horrible, being involved in the assistance in a murder, who was trying to help cover it up, that you did not do, and were detained for 528 days?” he said. “And you don’t get to hold your beloved little daughter until that time you are relieved from jail and are released?”
