- Her brother, Felix, testified at the trial, saying he didn’t know about all her lies leading up to the murders
- Now, Felix continues to stay out of the public eye
Jennifer Pan left her family, including brother Felix, in shambles after her 2010 murder plot against her parents.
Jennifer and Felix’s parents, father Huei Hann Pan and mother Bich Ha Pan, moved from Vietnam to Canada in hopes of a better life. According to Toronto Life, Hann and Bich were strict, pressuring their kids academically and barring Jennifer from dating until after high school.
Jennifer hid her on-and-off-again boyfriend, Daniel Wong, from her family, altered her report cards and fabricated enrollment at a prestigious university in Toronto. After her secrets came out, Jennifer’s relationship with her parents unraveled. In 2010, then 24-year-old Jennifer, hired three hitmen to kill her parents. Bich died in the attack, but Hann survived.
Felix was studying at McMaster University at the time and was not home. He testified in Jennifer’s trial, confirming that he believed Jennifer’s lies until she got caught.
In 2015, Jennifer was sentenced to two terms of life in prison with no parole for 25 years — one for her mother’s murder and one for the attempted murder of her father, the Toronto Star reported.
Felix and Hann wrote victim impact statements that were read on the day of her sentencing. They both also obtained restraining orders against Jennifer, prohibiting her from contacting them.
Here’s everything to know about where Jennifer Pan’s brother, Felix, is now.
What happened to Jennifer and Felix Pan’s parents?
After discovering their daughter’s lies, Hann and Bich started monitoring her messages and emails and refused to let her see Wong, with whom she had been secretly staying.
In 2010, Jennifer and Wong set a murder plot in motion. Three armed men entered Jennifer’s family home on Nov. 8, 2010, demanded money, took Jennifer’s parents to the basement and shot them, per Toronto Life. Hahn was shot in the shoulder and face but survived, sustaining serious injuries, while Bich was shot in the head three times and killed instantly.
In 2015, Jennifer and her co-accomplices — Wong, Lenford Crawford and David Mylvaganam — were sentenced to two terms of life in prison for the murder and attempted murder of Bich and Hann, per the Toronto Star.
Jennifer and the three men appealed, and in May 2023, the Court of Appeal for Ontario ordered new trials for the first-degree murder convictions, per CTV News. Prosecutors appealed that order in August 2023, and the cases remain in limbo as they await further decisions, according to Vox.

Jennifer’s trial started on March 19, 2014, in Newmarket, Ontario, and lasted 10 months.
Felix took the stand during his sister’s trial. During his testimony, a lawyer blocked Felix’s view of his sister, according to the Toronto Star, and he got emotional describing the funeral arrangements made for his mother.
When the defense lawyer, Laurence Cohen, asked if he loved and respected his sister and if she manipulated the family into believing she was in college, he responded yes to both. Felix also explained that his father was strict and traditional.
“Dad was old school… He was very controlling,” Felix said on the stand, according to the Toronto Sun. “It’s just the way my dad is … It’s sort of like tough love.”
Felix also noted that he and Jennifer had a different relationship with their mother.
“We had a closer attachment to our mom,” he said. “I could talk to her about things.”
Felix and Hann both wrote victim impact statements that were read in court when Jennifer was sentenced in 2015. Though he did not appear in court that day, Felix’s statement noted that his sister’s crime followed him, as employers would find information on it when searching his name on the internet, according to the Toronto Sun.
“Like a dark shadow, this is something that I can not hide from,” he wrote. “I lost my mother.”
In his statement, Hann shared that Felix was silent and distant and wouldn’t talk to him.
“My son doesn’t want to hear his sister’s name,” Hann wrote, according to the Toronto Sun. “I hope someday, my daughter can become a good and honest person.”
Is Felix in contact with his sister?
After Jennifer was sentenced in 2015, Felix and his father obtained restraining orders against Jennifer. She was prohibited from contacting either of them again.
Felix has not made any statements to the press in the years since his sister’s trial.

The Pan murder case was featured in Netflix’s April 2024 documentary, What Jennifer Did, though Felix does not appear in it.
