Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren-Shriner, was shot by police in an altercation near the couple’s home in Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock neighborhood.

Lauren-Shriner, 51, was struck once in the shoulder by a police officer after refusing to surrender her weapon. The writer was allegedly in pursuit of a hit-and-run suspect involved in a nearby crash on the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street. The suspect fled the scene on foot into Lauren’s nearby residential neighborhood at the 5300 block of Waldo Place, per the Los Angeles Police Department.

After re-entering her residence post shoot-out, Lauren-Shriner surrendered to police, and was taken into custody. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics brought the writer to a nearby hospital for medical attention, and she was then absentee booked for attempted murder on $1 million bail, per a report from the LAPD.

One of the male suspects was cited and released from custody, the LAPD said in a statement. Two other suspects remain at large.

The suspected driver was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol, agency spokesperson Daniel Keene told the Los Angeles Times. He was apprehended at around 4:20 p.m. after he was found in a backyard nearby, wearing only his boxer shorts. News helicopters saw him taking off his clothes, getting into a pool and watering plants, according to KTLA.

Lauren-Shriner penned her autobiographical book Some Girls: My Life in a Harem in 2010. The book chronicled her life from 1992 to 1995 as a paid female guest of Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. She married Shriner, 59, in Hawaii in 2005.
