Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren-Shriner, has been released on $1 million bond after her arrest for allegedly pointing a handgun at police officers who were chasing a suspect, authorities said.
Lauren-Shriner, 51, an author who is also known as Jillian Lauren, was shot by police in the incident near the couple’s home in Los Angeles’ Eagle Rock neighborhood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The incident took place on Tuesday, April 8, during a manhunt when officers were searching for three suspects in a hit-and-run who had fled to the residential neighborhood, police said.
“As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun,” the LAPD said in a press release on Wednesday, April 10. “The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused.”
Officers fired at her after police allege she pointed her gun at them, the LAPD said.
Lauren-Shriner, who was uninvolved in the hit-and-run, was struck once in the shoulder, police said.
She was arrested and transported to a local hospital for treatment, where she was booked on attempted murder charges.

According to online court records, she was released on $1 million bond on Wednesday, April 9. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 30.
One of the male suspects in the hit-and-run was cited and released from custody, the LAPD said in a statement. Two other suspects remain at large.
The suspected driver was apprehended at around 4:20 p.m. after he was found in a backyard nearby, wearing only his boxer shorts, agency spokesperson Daniel Keene told the Los Angeles Times.
News helicopters saw him taking off his clothes, getting into a pool and watering plants, according to KTLA. His identity has not been released.
It is unclear whether Lauren-Shriner has retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf. The L.A. County district attorney’s office did not immediately respond to a request to comment on whether charges had been filed against her yet.
