Tyler Robinson Discord Group Chat Members to Be Questioned After Charlie Kirk Killing, Says FBI Director By Liam Quinn

FBI Director Kash Patel told Senators that more than 20 people in a Discord group with Charlie Kirk shooting suspect Tyler Robinson will be questioned.

Patel testified in front of the U.S. Senate Oversight Committee that the FBI was planning to question the individuals in a group chat used by Robinson, the BBC reported.

Robinson is accused of fatally shooting Kirk, the prominent right-wing activist, during a rally at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The BBC and CBS previously reported, citing law enforcement sources and a Discord spokesperson, that Robinson allegedly appeared to confess to shooting Kirk in a Discord group chat.

Patel was asked by Sen. Josh Hawley if there were 20 people in the group chat, to which the FBI director responded “a lot more,” according to the BBC.

Patel reportedly told the Senate panel that investigators would speak with “anyone and everyone involved in that Discord chat” and that law enforcement would be “running out every lead.”

Authorities previously said that Robinson was apprehended after being turned into law enforcement by a family member.

Robinson is accused of using a high-powered, bolt-action rifle to kill Kirk after being “radicalized” in recent years, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox previously alleged.

Robinson has not yet been officially charged.
