Micheal Ward has been charged with rape and sexual assault, per police in the UK.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charges against Ward, 27, including two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police in London shared in a statement on July 25. The charges against the actor, who stars in the Netflix series Top Boy and recently appeared in Eddington, are in relation to one woman’s testimony and concern alleged incidents in January 2023.
Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, who is facilitating the investigation alongside his team, stressed that the police are committed to the well-being of the woman, who remains anonymous at this time.
“Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward,” Ware said. “We know investigations of this nature can have significant impact on those who make reports.”
Ward is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, Aug. 28.
