TikToker Found Dismembered in Water Plant Years After Ex-Partner's Mysterious Death

A TikToker who moved to another country as a minor with her ex-boyfriend has been found dismembered, amid scrutiny from his family over his unsolved 2022 death.

Officials conducting a routine inspection of a water plant in the Peruvian capital of Lima found body parts of 19-year-old Fabiola Alejandra Caicedo Piña on June 9, Panamericana Televisión , La Republica and El Comercio reported.

Her remains were trapped in the filtration grid of a river, police said, per the outlets. Her body had been severely mutilated, with additional parts reportedly recovered later in the month.

Piña went by “China Baby” on TikTok, where she had more than 5,000 followers. Her family says the Venezuelan national left for Peru when she was a minor with her then-boyfriend, without notifying anyone, La Republica reported.

The ex-boyfriend, Meiner Jiménez Castillo, was found dead in the outskirts of Lima in a case that remains unsolved, per TV program Latina Noticias. 

Since then, some family members of his have reportedly blamed Piña for his death, while others believe his death was a suicide, per Latina Noticias and La Republica.

Some family members of Castillo allegedly attacked Piña on social media, La Republica reported.

Piña’s family told the outlet that even though she left Venezuela with Castillo when she was a minor, without notifying her family, they did not suspect she had been forced or tricked. 

“They both left peacefully,” an unnamed relative said, per La Republica. “She never told us she was leaving; she just left and that was it.”

Peruvian National Police are investigating whether Piña’s killing is linked to human trafficking, La Republica reported. Police believe the extreme violence in the murder mirrors methods used by trafficking groups to punish their victims.

No suspects or charges have been announced.
