A New York tattoo artist is accused of kidnapping a teenage employee and brutally beating her with the help of his wife and the family nanny.
The victim, a 19-year-old woman the man was allegedly having an affair with, survived the alleged May 16 attack and reported it to authorities.
Wayne Barnes, his wife Jasmine Barnes and the family’s nanny Lizbeth Cerrato-Sanchez have been indicted in connection with the alleged crimes, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement this week.
Authorities claim the series of assaults began when Wayne, the 43-year-old owner of Sons of Ink tattoo parlor, was driving his employee to her home in Queens and the two got into an argument, culminating in Wayne kicking her out of the car on the Grand Central Parkway in Queens.
The woman was then allowed back into the car, where Wayne allegedly struck her several times with an expandable metal baton, per the DA’s office.
Soon thereafter, Wayne got a call from Jasmine, who he picked up while the teen was still in his car. Jasmine reportedly entered the car wearing black gloves and carrying another metal baton.
Once they arrived at the couple’s home in Westchester County, the duo allegedly dragged the teen into the residence before Jasmine pushed her down a flight of stairs, according to the DA’s office.
She allegedly dragged the teenager and hit her with the baton before Cerrato-Sanchez joined Jasmine, punching the teen in the face while Jasmine beat her.
Cerrato-Sanchez was reportedly at the residence tending to the Barnes children when the alleged assault began, the DA’s office said.
At one point, after the nanny was “allowed” to go home, the DA’s office said, the couple continued to threaten the teenager. (It wasn’t immediately clear if Cerrato-Sanchez was coerced in any capacity).
At one point, the teenager was able to convince Jasmine to let her go: the wife let her change into clean clothes and returned her phone before the teen was able to leave.
