A 6-year-old California girl is fighting for her life after being mauled by two pit bulls last weekend.
Scarlett Corona was at her grandmother’s house in Ontario when she was attacked by two pit bulls, Valerie Hernandez, the girl’s cousin, and Starr Aranda, the girl’s mother, wrote in a GoFundMe.
Scarlett was playing outside of her grandmother’s house when the dogs attacked her, NBC 4 reports.
Aranda was on her way to dinner when she was told that Scarlett had been attacked by the dogs, she told NBC 4.
“I didn’t know what kind of condition, I just knew,” Aranda told NBC 4. “They said, ‘Get to the hospital. Your baby girl got bit by a dog.’”
The attack left Scarlett with a severed main artery in her leg, cuts on both legs and at least three bites to her back, Aranda told NBC 4.
“Scarlett was flown to a children’s trauma center and is now undergoing various surgical procedures that will be followed by months of therapy and treatments,” the GoFundMe says.
The oldest of four children, Scarlett “is so full of life, very strong and loving,” the GoFundMe says.
“She helps her mommy and daddy so much as the big sister. We ask for prayers as they go through this traumatic experience. Your kindness, prayers and generosity mean the world to our family and any donation will be appreciated beyond words,” the fundraiser states.

On July 18, Hernandez updated the GoFundMe, writing that Scarlett “has proven to be a fighter and is staying strong,” adding that the girl had an operation to reconstruct her ear and another to repair the artery on her left leg.
“We remain strong for my warrior princess while she battles the odds” the fundraiser reads.
The Ontario Police Department is investigating the attack, NBC 4 reports.
It is unclear who owns the dogs and if charges are pending.
The Ontario Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE request for information.
