A Spirit Airlines pilot was “removed from duty” after he was arrested at an airport on allegations he stalked two children, officials said.

Dominic A. Cipolla has been charged with two counts of intentional stalking against minors, according to a complaint filed on July 11 in Johnson County Court in Kansas and obtained by PEOPLE.

The complaint does not share the exact ages of the two minor victims but says one of them is under the age of 14. It further states that the alleged incidents took place in August 2024 but doesn’t share specific details about the allegations.

Cipolla, 40, of Kansas City, Mo., was arrested at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in New Orleans on July 17, authorities said, according to The Guardian and Fox News.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE on Wednesday, Aug. 6, a Spirit spokesperson said, “We are aware of a matter involving a Pilot at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), which was unrelated to the performance of their job duties. The Pilot was removed from duty pending our investigation into the matter, and we arranged for another Pilot to operate the flight.”

Cipolla was released from custody on Aug. 2 after posting a $12,500 bond, online court records show. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea and PEOPLE could not reach his attorney, Brandan Davies, for comment.

Davies previously told The Guardian, “Mr. Cipolla denies the allegations against him and asks that the media allow the court process to take place.”

His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 12.
