A son who held his parent’s alleged murderer at gunpoint is opening up about his final moments with his mother and father.
T.D. Gribble recalled how he embraced his mom Paula, 76, and kissed the head of his father Anthony Gribble, 80, on Thursday, Jan. 9, when he visited their home in Greenville N.C., NBC News reported.
“The next time I saw them was Friday [Jan. 10] afternoon around 2 p.m. after they’d been murdered,” the 51-year-old added to NBC News on Tuesday, Jan 14.
Paula and Anthony were allegedly killed alongside their neighbor Enrique Reyes, 64, by David Lever on Jan. 10, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office (PSCO) said in a statement on Monday, Jan. 11.
Authorities are continuing “an active investigation involving four different crime scenes” the release added.
Officers reportedly received calls about their deaths at around 2:17 p.m., and then another call about a home invasion and gunshots at an unoccupied residence 30 minutes later, which Lever was reportedly linked to, per WCTI.
A search warrant obtained by local outlet WITN, stated that Paula called her son, who lives next door, to tell him Lever was at their home on the afternoon of Jan. 10.
After he found his fatally injured parents, T.D. reportedly confronted Lever, 55, and ordered him to put his hands in the air while he kept his hand on his holstered gun, though he never drew his weapon, per NBC News. He then called 911.
T.D.’s wife Dana Gribble told the outlet, “He maintained composure and begged for the dispatcher to send a sheriff with lights and sirens. He said, ‘Please send them fast.’ ” Lever was taken into custody after police arrived.
T.D. and his wife declined to share any possible connection between Lever and his parents, NBC News reported.

On Monday, Jan. 13, Lever appeared in court after being arrested and charged with three open counts of murder on Saturday, Jan. 11, the PSCO stated in the release.
On Jan. 10, Reyes visited a Food Lion at around 1:20 p.m. local time before heading home to his Forrest Acres Drive address. Lever reportedly exited his property at around 1:28 p.m., before he allegedly fired gunshots “as he left a Speedway gas station on NC 43 North, heading towards Peace Ridge Court,” per WCTI.
Lever’s next court date is reportedly scheduled for Jan. 29.
