A romantic rivalry turned violent over the weekend outside of a Miami hotel.
Video obtained by PEOPLE shows the moment that a couple casually strolling through the parking lot is suddenly approached from behind by a speeding vehicle.
The vehicle then pulls up alongside the woman, at which point the driver grabs her ponytail and starts to drive off, dragging her by the hair with her car.
The driver of the vehicle also allegedly pepper sprayed the woman, according to a news release from the Miami Springs Police Department.
Officers reported to the parking lot of the Clarion Hotel around 7:30 a.m. on June 20 in response to a call about the incident, at which point the victim described what happened, according to a copy of the arrest form obtained by PEOPLE.
The woman, whose name is not being released by police, told the responding officers that she had just checked out of the hotel when a car pulled up alongside her and the driver lunged out to grab her by the hair and then start driving again, dragging her in the process.
Once the vehicle came to a stop, the victim told officers that the driver started pepper spraying her “in the face and left side of her arm,” according to the arrest form.

Investigators were quickly able to confirm the details of the victim’s story thanks to the hotel’s surveillance system, which captured the entire incident.
They were also able to get a license plate number for the driver of the vehicle, who the victim identified as 43-year-old Katrina Nicole Grant.
Police stopped Grant later that day, and a search of her car turned up a “pink pepper spray canister in a black handbag that was located on the passenger side floor-board,” according to the arrest form.
Officer Gustavo Miranda wrote in the affidavit that after detaining Grant she allegedly “provided a full confession to the aforementioned incident” after being informed of her Miranda rights.
He went on to write in the affidavit that Grant allegedly told him that she committed this crime because “she was tired of her fiancé cheating on her and let her emotions get the best of her.”
Grant was then arrested and booked into jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
She posted bail two days later and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.
The public defender assigned to represent Grant entered a plea of not guilty on his client’s behalf and her arraignment is currently scheduled for July 21.
Grant and her public defender did not respond to requests for comment.
