“They were found where they were murdered,” a source clarifies to PEOPLE.
The couple’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, is expected to face two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders, as well as a special allegation he used a “dangerous and deadly” weapon such as a knife, Los Angeles Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced on Dec. 16.

Nick is currently being held without bail in Los Angeles’ Men’s Central Jail. The suspect was expected to appear in Los Angeles court earlier on Tuesday but did not show since he has not been medically cleared, his defense attorney, Alan Jackson, told reporters outside the courthouse.
Once medically cleared, Nick is expected to be transported to court to be arraigned and enter a plea, Hochman said.
