The Real Housewives of Potomac stars Dr. Wendy Osefo and husband Eddie Osefo have spoken out following their arrests on Thursday, Oct. 9.

“Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits,” a representative for the couple tells PEOPLE in a statement on Oct. 10. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues.”

The representative added that they “look forward to their day in court,” and concluded, “At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”

A statement from Carrol County Sheriff’s Office stated the couple posted bond on Oct. 10 and have been released.

The reality star, 41, and her husband are facing 16 charges, seven of which are felonies related to alleged “false/misleading info fraud” in excess of $300, the Westminster Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE.

The pair were booked in Westminster, Md. on Thursday, Oct. 9. TMZ was the first to report the news.

The Carrol County Sheriff’s Office, shared information on the arrest in a press release on Oct. 10.

The sheriff’s office explained that deputies responded to a call reporting burglary and theft on April 7, 2024. When they arrived to the home of Wendy and Eddie, the couple claimed numerous items were stolen from their home while they were on vacation, including 80 pieces of jewelry, luxury goods, clothing and shoes, worth more than $200,000.

The statement explained that during the investigation, “detectives found that over $20,000 of items reported stolen had been returned by the owners to the locations the items were purchased. Further, detectives found images of a homeowner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the burglary took place.”

In prosecution’s bail recommendation documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors allege the couple claimed a $450,000 personal property loss via an insurance company.

On Oct. 9 the Carrol County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they were taken into custody and “charged with multiple counts related to fraud.”

The couple joined RHOP, which is currently airing its 10th season, in season 5, and were slated to appear in Bravo’s new series, Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition. PEOPLE has learned the premiere, originally set for Oct. 14, has been delayed to Oct. 21 and will not begin with Wendy’s episode, as was previously planned.

Wendy and Eddie — who share children Karter, 12, Kruz, 10, and Kamrynn, 6 — celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in August.

Wendy is a former professor at John Hopkins University, and has regularly been a contributor on various cable news channels. After completing her Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s, Wendy went on to become the first Black woman to obtain a doctorate in Public Affairs-Community Development from Rutgers University (Camden).

Eddie is an attorney and founder and CEO of the cannabis brand, Happy Eddie.

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo. Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition premieres Oct. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
