Austin Drummond, the man accused of murdering four family members and abandoning an infant in a stranger’s yard in Tennessee, was arrested after a worker spotted him walking in the woods.
Drummond is accused of murdering Adrianna Williams, 20, James M. Wilson, 21, Cortney Rose, 38, and Braydon Williams, 15, who were found dead on July 29 in Tiptonville, Tenn. He subsequently led authorities on a multi-day manhunt.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest of Drummond in Jackson, Tenn., on Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Drummond was spotted by Ricardo Contreras, who told WMC he was working on a house when he saw someone in the woods.
“One of my guys hears something in the woods, and at some point, we thought it was like a deer or something like that,” Contreras told the outlet.
Contreras then went to look, he said, and saw a person, knowing police were searching for someone in the area.
“I saw someone moving in the middle of the woods, and he had like a, you know, a sweater with, you know, something on his head or something like that but it was really hard to see if it was the person that they were looking for but, who else could it be,” Contreras told WMC.
Contreras called 911 and police arrived at the scene. He told the outlet that 15 minutes later, a local resident called and told him that Drummond had been arrested.
