A 16-year-old Florida boy was fatally shot after bumping into a classmate at school — and now another teenager is being charged as an adult, authorities said.

Jacori Redding, 15, was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a firearm and possession of a firearm on school property, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.

Redding will be charged as an adult, Click on Orlando, WFTV and WESH reported, citing prosecutors.

The sheriff’s office said Redding and 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy bumped into each other at Oak Ridge High School in Sky Lake, Fla., and got into an argument on Oct. 9.

“Pinien told Jacori to apologize, and he would not, so the two sophomores agreed to fight after school at the park,” the post read.

That’s when Redding allegedly fatally shot Dalmacy and fled back to the school, Orange County Sheriff John Mina said at a press conference on Oct. 10. A school resource officer was alerted to the shooting via radio and the school was placed on lockdown. Redding was then found inside the school cafeteria and was allegedly carrying a gun in his backpack, Sheriff Mina added.

It remains unclear where the suspect obtained the gun. The sheriff added that Redding was on trial for grand theft auto at the time of the shooting.

“My heart aches for Pinien’s family, who are grieving this unimaginable loss,” Sheriff John Mina said. “And I’m angry that something as small as bumping into someone in the halls of a high school can result in a shooting death.”

Dalmacy was remembered by his mother as someone who was “full of light, always smiling, always dancing, and loved by everyone who knew him,” per a GoFundMe campaign.

Redding’s next court appearance is set for Nov. 12, WESH reported.
