The large pit bull allegedly exited the house and bit the officer in the upper arm while she was speaking with a family member, Pace told NBC Philadelphia.
He added that the officer suffered a “significant injury to the arm” but is currently in stable condition.

Pace said he believed the officer could have had worse injuries if she had not been wearing layers due to the cold weather.
“Unfortunately, in this particular situation, an animal attacked one of the officers, and the officers have to protect themselves in those situations,” the inspector told NBC Philadelphia.
No further details about the domestic disturbance were made available.
PEOPLE reached out to the Philadelphia Police Department on Sunday, Nov. 30, but did not immediately hear back.
