A man known as ‘The Naked Carpenter’ has been accused of stabbing a police officer 23 times after being caught running around a park in the nude.
According to the BBC, a court heard that Robert Jenner attempted to kill Sean Quinn on 15 June 2023 in Kent, England, by stabbing him in the head, face and neck with a pair of scissors.
Maidstone Crown Court was told the incident took place at Jenner’s apartment after the 50-year-old ran naked around a local park and exposed himself to women earlier that day, per the outlet.
Local media out Kent Online reported that Quinn and a fellow officer were investigating a report of a man seen running “completely naked” while carrying a backpack and “nipping in and out of bushes exposing himself” to women.
Jenner denies attempted murder and wounding with intent.
According to U.K. newspaper The Telegraph and Kent Online, Jenner became known as ‘The Naked Carpenter’ for carrying out his work in the nude.
Body cam footage shown at the trial captured Jenner topless as he barricaded himself in his apartment. He then attacked Quinn after the officer entered his room, per the BBC.
The outlet reported that Jenner only stopped his attack when another officer entered the apartment and punched him in the head “five or six times” which forced him to drop the scissors.
Speaking during the trial, prosecutor Daniel Stevenson said Jenner’s defense was that he was defending himself from what he believed was an unlawful arrest or unlawful entry into his home.
The court heard that following the incident, Jenner said, “I didn’t mean to do it,” according to the outlet, while Kent Outline reported that Jenner said he did not intend to kill or seriously injure the officer.

However, prosecutor Stevenson argued Jenner “must have been trying to do more than just cause really serious injury,” per Kent Online. “He must have been trying to end his life.”
Stevenson added in court, “The wounds to his neck had the potential to be fatal had they struck one of the main arteries in the head or neck. This is exactly why the defendant chose to stab PC Quinn in that area of his body.”
The court also heard that Jenner had gone to Maidstone Police Station earlier on June 15 to request the return of his see-through clothing that had previously been seized by officers. When this was refused, Jenner replied, according to the BBC, “I’m going to strip off now.”
