The Glassboro Public School District in South New Jersey has teamed up with ZeroEyes, an AI-based firearm detection platform, and Singlewire, an incident management software developer, to design a new approach to emergency communication and countering gun violence on campus. The district, serving approximately 1,950 students and 350 staff members across six buildings, hosts pre-kindergarten through the twelfth grade, and will be the first to implement this new strategy in an effort to save valuable time during the moments when every second matters.

“Shootings typically last only five to seven minutes, so every second counts… By integrating ZeroEyes’ AI-based detection with our mass notification platform, we help schools take fast, decisive action,” said Terry Swanson, president and CEO of Singlewire.

The goal of the system is to enhance communications and supercharge emergency response times by integrating real-time AI gun detection technology that can trigger alerts across devices such as digital signage, PA systems, and phones, getting critical information to those who need it most.

“It’s a mutually beneficial partnership that simplifies emergency response and helps protect lives… We’re proud to see this technology in action with Glassboro Public Schools and look forward to bringing it to more districts in the future,” according to Mike Lahiff, co-founder and CEO of ZeroEyes.

ZeroEyes software is integrated into the district’s existing security cameras, using AI detection to identify firearms and send images instantly to the company’s U.S. Operations Center staffed around the clock by military and law enforcement veterans. When it is determined that a valid threat exists, ZeroEyes uses Singlewire to dispatch alerts to first responders and school staff within 5 seconds, including information such as visual descriptions, the type of firearm present, and its last known location.

“Our district was immediately impressed upon seeing a demonstration of ZeroEyes’ capabilities, and recognized that integrating it with our Singlewire software would significantly enhance our security system… The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and this integration adds a critical new layer of protection,” said Craig Stephenson, the school district’s assistant superintendent.

This isn’t a bad idea at all. Speeding up the dissemination of critical information in times of emergency is a significant factor in preserving life; however, I feel this effort should be complemented by a strategy to decrease response time as well. The best way to do that is to employ armed security on campus. They don’t have to be imposing or intimidating. In fact, they could carry concealed and wear plain clothes. Well-trained and armed teachers would further enhance this system. Make no mistake, having first responders already on scene to protect our children is the safest bet. We protect our banks, court houses, sporting events, and concerts with guns, so why does the left think it is inappropriate to protect our kids in the same manner? The answer to that is two-fold. First, we protect our money and investments above all else, and second, if schools were well protected, the left wouldn’t be able to use the graves of young children as a platform to push their anti-Second Amendment agenda. Unacceptable America. We need to straighten out priorities.
