A man suspected of murder died after leading police on a high-speed chase down a Los Angeles freeway.
The chase occurred on Saturday, Jan. 31 after a man was fatally shot in Camarillo, Calif., the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
The suspect’s vehicle was spotted and police attempted to pull the man over, but he refused to yield and began leading them in a chase on the 101 freeway, the sheriff’s department said.
“The California Highway Patrol was getting in position to take over the pursuit; however, patrol personnel lost visual of the vehicle while it was traveling more than 100 miles per hour,” the sheriff’s department said in a press release.
The suspect was later spotted on the 405 freeway by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspect eventually stopped and soon after died by suicide inside the car, according to the sheriff’s department.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the suspect or the homicide victim in Camarillo.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
