A mother in South Carolina is accused of brutally murdering her newborn son.
An T. Ngo, 31, allegedly stabbed her baby to death with a “long, metal letter opener” while giving birth to the boy on March 7, according to an arrest warrant filed in the case.
After delivering the child, Ngo cut the umbilical cord and continued to stab her newborn son, according to the warrant.
Officer Melissa Yates of the of the Easley Police Department writes in the warrant that Ngo placed the newborn’s body in a plastic bag and then put the remains in another room.
The newborn was declared dead at the scene while Ngo was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Police arrested Ngo on March 11 after she was released from the hospital. Ngo then made her first court appearance at Easley Municipal Court that same day, where records show that she was charged with homicide by child abuse and denied bail by the judge in the case.
