Authorities in Florida have arrested a tour guide in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found inside a closet at a resort — where guests unwittingly spent a night with the corpse in the same room.
Nadyne Marie Tillman, 43, was found fatally beaten inside a room at the Amoray Dive Resort in Key Largo, Fla., on Tuesday, April 8, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Later that day, authorities arrested 33-year-old Dylan Lamb — who according to NBC Miami is a kayak tour guide — on a murder charge in connection with Tillman’s killing, per the statement.
Tillman was found by officers responding to a report of a missing person after a family member told police they had not heard from her since Saturday morning, which was “unusual.”
Investigators learned Tillman and Lamb allegedly met on Saturday morning at the resort where Lamb was staying.
Tillman’s body was found in the room Lamb had rented, per police.
Lamb, who checked into the resort on Friday, reportedly refused to leave the room when he was asked by hotel staff to move to another room to make space for new guests, according to staff members who spoke with investigators, the Miami Herald reported.
An unnamed law enforcement source told the outlet that after Lamb checked out of his room on Sunday, cleaning staff found bloodied sheets stuffed into large yard waste bags — but did not notify authorities.
New guests spent at least one night in the same room with Tillman’s corpse, reportedly unaware there was a dead body in the crawl space of the air-conditioning closet, per the Herald.
