'Menace' with Lengthy Criminal History Sentenced to Life for Rape: 'Finally Over' By Nicole Acosta

An Alabama man with a lengthy criminal history will spend the rest of his life in prison for beating and raping a woman he was dating at the time.

Corey Oliver, 41, of Thorsby, was handed down the life sentence — which does not include the possibility of parole — on Dec. 3, according to a statement from 19th Circuit District Attorney CJ Robinson.

Robinson said a jury convicted Oliver in July of raping a woman he had been dating after beating and strangling her at knifepoint.

According to the district attorney, Oliver has more than 10 prior felony convictions and around 40 total arrests, beginning with drug and property offenses and escalating to violent sexual crimes.

“Corey Oliver had been a menace for my 18-year career,” Robinson said in the statement following the sentencing on Dec. 3. “Oliver slithered his way out of several previous charges when we suspected he intimidated victims as they routinely refused to follow through with charges or changed their statement(s) during legal proceedings.”

Robinson commended the judge for “not hesitating to drop the hammer on Corey Oliver,” per the statement.

“Today was a great day as we watched a serial rapist and child molester be sent away to never have the opportunity to sexually assault another woman or child again,” he said.

AL.com reported that the 2018 rape only came to the attention of the district attorney’s office in 2024, subsequently leading to Oliver’s indictment.

Robinson said his office collaborated with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, adding that they fought to ensure Oliver’s “path of destruction” was “finally over.”
