Two men are accused of forcing a minor to perform sex acts in a sauna while aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrested Jose Diaz, 36, and Ricardo Leal, 37, on March 21 when Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas docked in Miami, according to arrest affidavits obtained by PEOPLE.
The two men, both Mexican nationals, are now accused of lewd and lascivious behavior with a minor and molesting a minor in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred on March 20 in the cruise ship’s sauna.
One of the men is also facing an additional charge of sexual battery while the other faces an additional charge for not revealing his HIV status to the minor.
The victim claims the incident occurred when he found himself in the sauna with two “strangers,” Diaz and Leal.
At one point, the victim claims that both Diaz and Leal “began to [perform a sex act] in front of him” before starting to perform the same act on the victim without his consent, ultimately “forc[ing] his hand to perform it on them,” according to the affidavits.

Once in custody, the man with HIV invoked his right to counsel. The other man disputed the victim’s claims and said that the “sexual acts were consensual,” according to the affidavit.
Both men were denied bond at a hearing over the weekend and are being held in custody with an immigration hold.
No lawyers are listed for either of the accused men and Royal Caribbean did not respond to a request for comment.
