NEED TO KNOW
- Megyn Kelly addressed the newly released Jeffrey Epstein emails, in which he mentioned Donald Trump, on the Nov. 12 episode of her Sirius XM show
- The host then said she’s heard conflicting takes on whether Epstein counts as a pedophile because to her knowledge, he only liked girls in their teens
- “There’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?” she said
Megyn Kelly appeared to question the definition of pedophilia on a recent episode of her radio show while discussing the convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
On the Wednesday, Nov. 12, episode of her Sirius XM program The Megyn Kelly Show, the host and her guest, Batya Ungar-Sargon, discussed the House Oversight Committee’s release of multiple emails sent by Epstein in which he discussed President Donald Trump.
Kelly acknowledged Epstein’s abuse of underage girls, telling Ungar-Sargon, “[Epstein] did like them young, and there were several young women who he did this to who were minors, who were underage. There’s just no question about that.”
She then insisted that Trump was not involved, adding, “That is a true fact about Jeffrey Epstein. But that is not a true fact about Donald Trump.”
Kelly went on to allege that she knew “somebody very, very close” to the Epstein case “who is in a position to know virtually everything.” She claimed the unidentified individual “told me, from the start years and years ago, that Jeffrey Epstein, in this person’s view, was not a pedophile.”
“He was into the barely legal type. Like, he liked 15-year-old girls. And I realize this is disgusting. I’m definitely not trying to make an excuse for this,” she continued. “I’m just giving you facts, that he wasn’t into, like, 8-year-olds. But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby.”

Kelly said, “And that is what I believed, and that is what I reliably was told for many years. And it wasn’t until we heard from Pam Bondi that they had tens of thousands of videos of alleged — forgive me, they used to call it ‘kiddie porn,’ now they call it child sexual abuse material — on his computer, that for the first time, I thought, ‘Oh no, he was an actual pedophile.’ ”
“Only a pedophile gets off on young children abuse videos,” Kelly added. “She’s never clarified it, I don’t know whether it’s true. I have to be honest, I don’t really trust Pam Bondi’s word on the Epstein matters anymore.”
The host then claimed, “We have yet to see anybody come forward and say, ‘I was under 10, I was under 14 when I first came within his purview.’ You can say that’s a distinction without a difference. I think there is a difference. There’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?”

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released three email correspondences between Epstein and others. Hours later, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee released approximately 20,000 pages of documents from the Epstein estate.
In the first batch of emails, Epstein repeatedly mentioned his relationship with Trump.
On April 2, 2011, Epstein wrote to his personal confidante Ghislaine Maxwell, “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump. [Redacted victim’s name] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.”
In a later email Epstein sent to Trump biographer Michael Wolff on Jan. 31, 2019, he wrote, “[Redacted victim’s name] mara lago,” followed by another redacted segment. “Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. . of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop.”

In a statement shared with PEOPLE on Wednesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.”
“The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre,” Leavitt claimed, “who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions,” referring to the Epstein victim who died by suicide in April.
“The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre,” she continued. “These stories are nothing more than bad-faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees right through this hoax and clear distraction from the government opening back up again.”
