A Florida McDonald’s employee is accused of choking a teenager after a fight over ranch dressing, according to police.
The St Petersburg Police Department arrested 31-year-old Akeena Sampson on April 4 and charged her with abuse of a child without great bodily harm after an incident between her and a 17-year-old customer that was “captured on video,” according to a copy of the arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.
“The victim was a customer at McDonald’s and walked behind the counter to grab ranch after not being helped by employees,” Officer Tommy Glass of the SPPD writes in the affidavit.
Then, as the teenager returned to the lobby, Glass says that Sampson “grabbed her arm,” according to the affidavit.
Glass writes in the affidavit that the teenager then tried to break free from Sampson’s grip, at which time Sampson “grabbed her neck choking her and taking her to the ground.”

Sampson allegedly choked the teenager once more while on the ground, writes Glass, who also says in the affidavit that the teenager had “visible injuries to her neck and left elbow.”
Court records obtained by PEOPLE show that Sampson bonded out of custody on the evening of April 5, and was ordered to have no contact with the teenager while out on release.
Sampson has yet to enter a plea in the case. Her public defender did not respond to a request for comment.
In a statement to PEOPLE, a McDonald’s USA spokesperson said: “We do not tolerate violence of any kind in our restaurants. This individual was immediately placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. We are assisting and cooperating with local law enforcement efforts.”
