A Tennessee man is facing charges after being accused of beating another man with a plunger, pouring bleach on him and kidnapping his child.
19-year-old Charles Coffman was charged with aggravated kidnapping, attempted second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, Live 5 News reported, citing a police report.
Police said that Coffman was allegedly asked by the child’s mother to take an Uber to the home and pick up the 3-year-old child, WVLT reported, citing a police report.
“Once there, [Coffman said] he got into a physical fight with the victim,” the report said, per the outlet. “[Coffman said] he slammed the victim to the ground, struck him in the face multiple times with his fists, struck [the victim] with a toilet plunger and stuffed this plunger into the victim’s mouth.”
The report said that Coffman then allegedly dragged the victim into the bathroom, stripped him naked and poured bleach on his wounds, per the local outlet.
Police found the victim while conducting a wellness check around 4 a.m. on Sunday, local outlet WVLT said, citing the police report.
“Entry was forced into the residence and the victim was found in the bathroom, naked and with serious head injuries,” the report said, adding that a 3-year-old child and a Ford Expedition were both missing, per the outlet.
The man was taken to a hospital where he suffered a subdural hematoma and other serious injuries, according to the police report.
Police said they then interviewed the mom of the child, who said she had never spoken to Coffman or would allow him to take her child, WVLT reported.
