A Wisconsin man charged in a January murder allegedly killed the victim while on a “spiritual” fast, according to court documents.
James Dorr, 34, was arrested a day after the Jan. 28 killing at a Green Bay, Wis., home, the Green Bay police department previously said in a statement.
The victim, who NBC 26 reports was 60 years old, was identified in a criminal complaint cited by FOX 11 only by his initials, D.V.
Officers responding to the residence on Jan. 28 found D.V. on the ground at the doorway and his dog, named Benji, dead under a bed, per the complaint.
Dorr’s wallet allegedly was found at the scene, and he was arrested while walking on the street.
Dorr allegedly admitted to killing the man and the dog, per the complaint. The victim had been his addiction sponsor, WBAY and FOX 11 reported.
Dorr allegedly told police he had been on a “spiritual” fast for about two days, during which he did not have food or water, per the complaint.
He allegedly said he had “thoughts” in his head that showed his daughter and her mother being raped and murdered.
“He just thought it was the end of the world and said he didn’t know,” authorities noted in the complaint.
Prior to the stabbing, Dorr said, he was getting along with his sponsor.
According to an autopsy, there were 27 sharp force injuries on the victim; Dorr allegedly admitted to stabbing the man a “bunch of times,” per the complaint.
