- Police said McCrary killed Davis while on pre-trial release for assault and kidnapping charges
The remains of a missing Georgia woman were discovered after her boyfriend allegedly confessed to killing her, according to police.
The Cobb County Police Department initially responded to a missing person report on Oct. 11, according to a news release, which states the victim’s son told officers he hadn’t seen his mother in two days.
Police later found a car belonging to the victim, Tange Davis, 45, in the parking lot of a grocery store in Mableton, Ga.
Davis’ boyfriend, Cecil McCrary, 56, initially told police that he had last seen her at his home and provided security footage of her leaving the property.
Three days after the initial report, the department then posted an alert on social media seeking the public’s assistance.
Later that evening, Cobb County police said McCrary was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives.
The department alleged that McCrary subsequently admitted to killing Davis and burying her body in Atlanta.
Prior to Davis’ death, police alleged they had responded to multiple domestic violence incidents between McCrary and the victim, per the release. McCrary was free on pre-trial release for charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault at the time Davis went missing.

Cobb County jail records indicate that McCrary is now charged with murder in commission of a felony, aggravated assault by strangulation, concealing the death of another and two counts of theft, in addition to the previous charges he was also facing.
It is not immediately clear if McCrary has entered a plea or retained an attorney who can speak on his behalf.
