  • A warrant was issued for McClintock’s arrest over the weekend

A 20-year-old man who allegedly hurled an antisemitic comment at Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, faces a charge of disturbing the peace in Mississippi, police said.

The Starkville Police Department said a warrant was issued over the weekend for Patrick McClintock.

According to the Reflector, the Mississippi State University’s student newspaper, McClintock is a junior mechanical engineering major at the university.

He was charged on Monday, Nov. 10, per the statement by police.

Portnoy, who is Jewish, was recording a “One Bite” pizza review in Mississippi when someone yelled an antisemitic comment at him on Friday, Nov. 7, according to CBS News.

The police department “was made aware of a video circulating online that depicted an individual yelling an antisemitic statement and throwing coins toward another person outside a local business” that same day, according to the police statement.

“The State of Mississippi allows courts to impose enhanced penalties if a violation meets the criteria for bias-motivated or discriminatory reasons,” police added. “This remains under investigation.”

Portnoy told CBS Sunday Morning that he experiences daily antisemitism.

“It’s every day now,” he said in an interview that will air next Sunday and was recorded prior to the incident. “Like, there’s a definitive shift in what’s going on.”

McClintock was processed and released, police said.
