Lamar Odom has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Las Vegas.
Court records show that Odom, 46, was arrested early on Saturday, Jan. 17, on a DUI charge and two traffic violations. TMZ was the first to report the news.
The Los Angeles Lakers alum is accused of driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and making an improper lane change/or having a failure to maintain his lane.
TMZ wrote that as of 12:00 p.m. local time, it appeared that Odom was still in custody.
Odom has been public in the past about his struggles with substance abuse. In 2013, sources confirmed to PEOPLE that he had checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center just one week after being arrested for DUI in California.
In that case, he reached a plea agreement, receiving three years of probation and agreeing to attend a three-month alcohol education program. He was also asked to pay $1,800 in fines and penalties.
In his 2019 book, Darkness to Light, Odom recounted his overdose on cocaine, alcohol and cannabis in a Las Vegas brothel in 2015.
“My heart stopped twice,” he wrote. “I had twelve seizures and six strokes. My lungs collapsed and my kidneys ruptured. I was on life support. Everyone I’d ever loved was looking at me through bleary eyes.”

Odom was eventually transferred to a hospital in L.A., where he stayed until January 2016.
“[The overdose] made me realize I couldn’t live the way I’d been living,” he wrote in his memoir, saying at the time he was drug-free.
The NBA star was previously married to Khloé Kardashian, and he shares children Lamar Jr. and Destiny with ex Liza Morales. The former couple also welcomed son Jayden, who died at 6 months old in 2006 from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
Odom is set to appear in court in Nevada on March 17.
