A fifth-grade teacher in Kentucky is facing criminal charges after being accused of having “sexual conversations” with a student during online instruction — and she was arrested when she drove to the student’s house, police said.
On Monday, Dec. 15, Sydnee Graf, 36, of Louisville, was arrested and charged with procuring or promoting use of a minor by electronic means, according to a Louisville Metro police arrest citation obtained by PEOPLE.
According to the citation, Louisville Metro Police detectives were contacted by police for Jefferson County Public Schools about the alleged “exploitation of a juvenile victim,” who was under the age of 12 at the time of the offense.
During a “non-traditional workday” — when class is held virtually and students and teachers are online — “a 5th grade math teacher engaged in sexual conversations with a 5th grade student,” the citation alleges.
Detectives reviewed the alleged conversations between the juvenile and the suspect, according to the citation.
“Screenshots and video recordings of the conversations depict images of the suspect as well as her name, Sydnee Graf, displayed in the top left corner,” the citation alleges.
The conversations included discussions of “oral sodomy,” with the suspect stating, “I really need to taste that d— Fr Fr,” the citation alleges.
The suspect allegedly made arrangements to meet the juvenile on Monday, Dec. 15, the date of the citation, it says.

Graf was apprehended while picking up the juvenile from the “area of his residence,” the citation alleges.
“Post Miranda, the suspect admitted to the previous (sic) mentioned conversations,” the citation alleges.
During her arraignment on Tuesday, Dec. 16, the court entered a not guilty plea for Graf and kept her bond at $100,000 cash, WAVE, WLKY and Fox 56 report.
She was remanded to the Louisville Metro Detention Center, which does not list her as being held or released, according to online jail records.
In a letter to parents, Smyrna Elementary School principal Amanda Cooper said Graf will be reassigned and will not have contact with students during the investigation, WLKY reports.
It is unclear whether Graf has retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf.
