  • Mykill Puckett, 26. will serve 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a 6-month-old child
  • He also pled guilty to incest, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal abuse with a victim 12 or under and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment.
  • Puckett and his partner were first arrested and charged in 2023 when staff at a local hospital contacted authorities to report injuries consistent with child abuse

A judge in Kentucky sentenced a man to 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping a 6-month-old baby.

Mykill Pucket, 26, appeared in Webster Circuit Court after pleading guilty to multiple charges all stemming from an investigation that launched in 2023, according to a copy of the criminal complaint obtained by PEOPLE.

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman listed those charges in a release obtained by PEOPLE as: first-degree rape with a victim under 12, incest, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal abuse with a victim 12 or under and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Puckett will not be eligible for parole, cannot contact the victim for 10 years after he is out of prison and will serve a five-year probationary period upon his release, according to Coleman.

“The abuse in this case was simply horrific. Law enforcement and prosecutors responded with the full weight of Kentucky’s justice system,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 5th Judicial Circuit Zac Greenwell, who prosecuted Puckett.

The case began in Aug. 2023 when staff at a local hospital contacted authorities to report that a 6-month-old child had injuries consistent with child abuse.

Puckett and his partner, Holly Jo Jones, were soon arrested and charged by authorities. Jones was charged with first-degree assault and criminal abuse, and is still awaiting her court hearing to learn her fate.

“Every day, Kentucky’s law enforcement and prosecutors stare into the darkness and see some of the worst conduct imaginable,” said Coleman. “Through zealous collaboration with Commonwealth’s Attorney Greenwell and his Office, we made clear that this criminal behavior has no place in Kentucky, and we will use every legal tool to stop it.”
