An influencer in India has been found dead inside a parked car outside a medical school, according to multiple local reports.
On Wednesday, June 11, Bathinda Police confirmed officers had responded to reports of “a foul smell” coming from “a parked vehicle in the parking area” of Adesh Hospital in Bathinda, per an X post. The location is a private medical university in Bhucho Kalan.
The post stated that officers had “discovered the body of a lady inside the vehicle,” adding that a “thorough examination” was now being conducted.
The victim, a resident of Ludhiana, was identified as social media influencer Kamal Kaur, whose real name is Kanchan Kumari, per local outlets The Times of India, the Hindustan Times, and India Today.
She used the name Kamal Kaur Bhabhi on social media and had 385,000 followers on Instagram, as well as 236,000 subscribers on YouTube.
The victim was believed to be in her mid-30s, according to the Hindustan Times.
Per India Today and the Hindustan Times, Kumari and her family had received threats last year that warned her to stop posting “inappropriate” videos online.
The Times of India noted that Kumari had “attracted controversy” with some of her posts.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amneet Konda said, “We are looking at every possible lead — nothing can be confirmed at this point,” per India Today.
The outlet stated that police sources noted that while they were taking the previous threats seriously, officers were examining all angles.

India Today noted that the murder may not have occurred at the university, citing preliminary investigations, adding that the victim may have been killed elsewhere before her body was placed in the car in the parking lot. The car’s license plate was found to be fake, the publication added.
Police are treating Kumari’s death as a murder case, according to the Hindustan Times.
Bathinda Police didn’t immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information.
