An English husband has admitted to drowning his wife in their outdoor hot tub last November after spending a night out together and later lying to police about finding her unresponsive in the water.
Andrew Georgiou, 44, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to the Nov. 2, 2024 murder of his wife Carol Georgiou during a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court, according to the BBC, the Bucks Free Press, and Birmingham Live.
Georgiou admitted in court Tuesday to drowning his wife, 42, in the couple’s outdoor hot tub after returning home from a night out last November.
Georgiou then waited roughly 40 minutes to call 999 to report the emergency at their Milton Keynes home, roughly 50 miles northwest of London, and finally admitted Tuesday to lying when he told dispatchers that he had walked outside and discovered his wife dead that night, according to the Bucks Free Press.
The outlet reported that Georgiou will be sentenced on March 6, 2026.

“This is a tragic case and my thoughts and the thoughts of Thames Valley Police remain with Carol Georgiou’s loved ones at this difficult time,” Thames Valley Police Detective Inspector Michael Roddy said in a statement, according to the Bucks Free Press and Birmingham Live.
After Georgiou was arrested in July, the BBC reported that Carol’s family released a statement to the press remembering her as someone who “cherished her role as a mother to her sons and brought joy and laughter wherever she went.”
“Her passing has left a deep void in our family, and we are struggling to imagine life without her,” the family’s statement continued, according to BBC. “We will always treasure her warm smile, loving embraces and witty sense of humor.”
