Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have requested that former Prince Andrew (now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor) submit to questioning regarding his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
“Rich and powerful men have evaded justice for far too long,” committee ranking member Rep. Robert Garcia said in a statement. “Now, former Prince Andrew has the opportunity to come clean and provide justice for the survivors. Oversight Democrats will not stop fighting for accountability and transparency for survivors of Epstein and his gang of co-conspirators.”
Andrew was stripped of his royal titles by his brother King Charles due to the former prince’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail while awaiting federal sex trafficking charges in 2019.
“It has been publicly reported that your friendship with Mr. Epstein began in 1999 and that you remained close through and after his 2008 conviction for procuring minors for prostitution,” committee Democrats wrote in a letter addressed to Andrew, adding that “the Committee requests that you make yourself available for a transcribed interview with the Committee and provide insight into the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein’s co-conspirators.”
The letter asked that Andrew respond to the Committee’s request by Nov. 20 “due to the urgency and gravity of this matter.”
Files related to the Epstein investigation have caused a political firestorm due to his connections to high-profile people like Andrew, President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton.
Andrew is the third child of Queen Elizabeth and was named in noted survivor Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 lawsuit against Epstein, alleging that she was sex trafficked to the then-prince when she was 17.
Giuffre sued Andrew in 2021, though he has routinely denied any wrongdoing.

“After hearing from Epstein’s victims and public reporting of leaked documents, it is vital that Andrew cooperates with the ongoing investigation,” Rep. Suha Subramanyam (D-Va.) said in a statement. “If he is innocent, then he can clear his name. And if not, our investigation will show that, and the victims will receive long overdue justice. The Royal Family’s actions stripping Andrew of his titles show there is more to this story.”
Epstein’s death by suicide in a New York City jail has been the subject of considerable controversy.
Epstein’s co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell, who also has connections to Andrew, is serving a 20-year prison sentence for child sex trafficking.
