Prosecutors unveiled chilling video in court this week showing a Brooklyn mom bleeding out of her eyes after a family friend allegedly shot her outside of a funeral in 2021.
The graphic bodycam video showed police arriving just moments after Delia Johnson, 42, was allegedly shot multiple times by Claudia Banton on Aug. 4, 2021. The video showed people screaming, crying and running as officers performed CPR on Johnson, according to News 12.
Banton allegedly shot Johnson in the head and then shot her again as she fell to the ground before fleeing in a vehicle, according to a statement from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.
Banton’s lawyers claim that the video does not clearly identify her as the shooter. The defense also argued that prosecutors have not presented a motive, murder weapon or a clear description of the clothing the suspect was wearing, per News 12.
Responding police officers testified that they were originally looking for a man in a white shirt and blue pants, seen leaving in a white Mercedes SUV. When they later stopped the SUV, they found a woman not matching their description, so she was let go, according to News 12.
Only moments later did they realize that she was the suspect.

Three months later, Banton was found in Jacksonville, Fla., and apprehended by United States Marshals, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.
The trial is set to continue this week, with testimony from Johnson’s family.
“This was a cold-blooded execution of a woman who was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend, who did not deserve to have her life taken away from her,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. “We will seek to bring her justice for this senseless and tragic killing.”
