On Sunday night, Posen police officers found Geyser and the male located sleeping on a sidewalk near a truck stop.
According to a Posen Police Department statement on Facebook, Geyser “repeatedly refused to provide her real name and initially gave a false one.”
“After continued attempts to identify her, she finally stated that she didn’t want to tell officers who she was because she had ‘done something really bad, and suggested that officers could ‘just Google’ her name,” per the press release.
Both Geyser and her travel companion was taken into custody.
Geyser was living in a group home under court order, as a condition of her release from a psychiatric care facility where she had been placed after the 2014 stabbing.
Geyser and Anissa Weier, both 12 years old at the time, lured their classmate Payton Leutner into the woods while playing hide-and-seek during a sleepover Waukesha, Wis. Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times as Weier watched and cheered her on. Leutner survived the attack and crawled into a nearby bike path where she was rescued by a passerby.
The duo admitted to the attack, claiming that they wanted to please the illustrated supernatural character Slender Man, whom they believed was real at the time.
Geyser and Weier were charged with first-degree intentional homicide and tried as adults. They were found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and were placed in psychiatric facilities.
In March, a judge ordered Geyser’s release. She was brought to a group home for supervised release and was ordered to wear a monitoring bracelet as part of the conditions of her release, per ABC News.
A spokesperson for the Leutner family told ABC News in a statement that, “Payton Leutner and her family are aware of the most recent situation regarding Morgan Geyser. Payton and her family are safe and are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure their continued safety.”
“The family would like to thank all of the law enforcement entities involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan,” the statement continued. “The Leutner family also wish to thank the outpouring of support from family, friends, and well-wishers who have contacted them during this difficult time.”
