  • A Florida man was arrested after allegedly attempting to run down three kids with his car
  • The man was allegedly upset because the three kids “ding-dong ditched” his home
  • He now faces multiple charges for aggravated assault

A Florida man was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to run over a group of kids with his car after they “ding-dong ditched” his home.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office records reviewed by PEOPLE show that John P. Albanos was arrested on July 12 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with the intent to commit a felony.

Albanos, 51, was released on bond the next day and is due back in court in early August, records show. A spokesperson for the Naples Police Department did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment Thursday on Albanos’ arrest.

According to the local Gulf Coast News, the 51-year-old man was at his home in Naples, Fla., when three kids approached his home, rang the doorbell, and ran away. The outlet, citing a police report, reported that the kids were riding on scooters and had played the prank on multiple homes along the block of 28th Ave. in town.

Albanos did not take kindly to the prank, according to the Gulf Coast News, which reported that police allege he grew angry with the kids, got in his car, and began to chase them down the street as they ran away.

Eventually, according to the news outlet, the kids ran into a neighboring yard to avoid getting hit by Albanos and a neighbor who witnessed the incident called 911 after trying to steer Albanos’ attention away from the children.
