A Florida man convicted of killing his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn son after she decided not to get abortion has learned his fate.
Donovan Faison, 23, was sentenced to death on Dec. 5 after a Seminole County jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, killing an unborn child and burglary, according to a press release from the 18th Judicial Circuit’s State Attorney’s Office. The jury voted 11-1 on Oct. 30 to recommend the death penalty for Faison.
Prosecutors said Faison lured 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo to Coastline Park in Sanford on Nov. 11, 2022 before shooting her in the head as she sat in her car.
Text messages between the two showed Faison’s displeasure when he learned about the pregnancy. When Fiengo first announced the news of her pregnancy to Faison by sending a photo of two positive pregnancy tests, he accused her of lying and then texted “Abortion!!!,” a separate release states.
Faison was “angry and felt pressured because he was living with another woman who suspected him of cheating,” prosecutors argued at trial. He also sent texts to a friend about Fiengo, writing, “On my brothers grave, I’m gonna crop her out.”

Prosecutors said Faison then lured Fiengo to the park.
Fiengo, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, told a friend she was planning to meet Faison there. At the scene, authorities also recovered an ultrasound photo.

“You may and should consider the cold, calculated, premeditated nature of this killing,” Assistant State Attorney Stewart Stone told jurors, per the release. “This was an execution-style killing,” he added.
According to a GoFundMe campaign created in the wake of her death, Fiengo is survived by her 1-year-old son. The mother was remembered in her obituary as a fun and loving person who had an old soul.
