A gunman who opened fire at a Border Patrol facility in Texas was shot and killed by authorities.
The Department of Homeland Security said on social media that “an individual opened fire at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol sector annex in McAllen, Texas.”
The shooter was neutralized by both Border Patrol agents and local police, according to DHS.
“Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured, including one shot in the knee,” DHS said. “All three have gone to the hospital.”
The Associated Press reported, citing police, that the suspect, identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, was carrying an assault rifle and wearing a utility vest.
The shooting occurred at the border patrol facility across from McAllen International Airport.

According to McAllen police Chief Victor Rodriguez, The Texas Tribune reported, after searching Mosqueda’ vehicle, police found additional assault weapons and ammunition, as well as spray-painted writing, though police did not provide details on the writing or if it was connected to the shooting.
Mosqueda, 27, had been reported missing from a home in Weslaco, 18 miles away from the scene, according to the Tribune.
Rodriguez said the motive of the shooting is still unknown, according to the Tribune.
