A pregnant woman accused of killing her one-year-old son in Georgia was captured and taken into custody in upstate New York.
Gloria Wright, 23, was arrested in Rochester with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals on Saturday, Jan. 18.
Wright was wanted for first-degree murder and first-degree cruelty to children after her one-year-old son was discovered not breathing at a Georgia home on Jan. 8. The boy later died at a hospital, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Wright was interviewed by police after her child’s discovery, but had not been seen since. Authorities were offering a $5,000 reward for information on Wright’s whereabouts.

The child died from blunt force trauma to the head, per WSB-TV.
“A telephone call with the medical examiner who assisted in the autopsy did conclude that the acute skull fractures were not the result of an accidental fall or drop,” according to a warrant, WSB-TV reported.
Wright is also currently pregnant with another child, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s office told WSB-TV prior to her arrest.
“We have a small child that has lost its life in the hands of its mother and we would like to get this mother in custody because she is currently carrying another child right now, so we would like to get her in custody for her safety and for the safety of that child,” Rockdale County Sheriff’s investigator Grote Levett told WSB-TV.
The sheriff’s office said it would provide an update when further details become available.
