- Keith Roberts Jr., 29, is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend, Myshaela Burnham, 29, at her workplace
- The shooting happened inside a medical and office complex in Bradenton, Florida, police said
- A female office employee who witnessed the shooting was also shot and remains hospitalized
A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend at her workplace allegedly shot her at point-blank range at her workplace — and wounded her coworker in the process, police said.
Keith Roberts Jr., 29, is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm following the Thursday afternoon shooting, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
In a news release, police said that at approximately 12:48 p.m., Roberts entered a suite of offices in the 5200 block of 4th Avenue Circle East in Bradenton, Fla., where his ex-girlfriend, Myshaela Burnham, 29, was working. Burnham was fatally shot, police said.
According to the release, a female office employee who witnessed the shooting was also shot. She remains hospitalized, and her name has not been released.
Bradenton Police Chief Jason Cramer told WFLA that Roberts walked into the office suite knowing where Burnham was seated and fired at close range, with the blast also striking the second woman due to her proximity.
“He walked in an unlocked door and went directly to the desk where the victim was who passed — knowing that’s where her desk was — and directly opened fire at point blank range,” Cramer told WFLA. “Some of it hit the other victim who was at an adjoining desk.”
Police said multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle leaving the scene shortly after the shooting, allowing investigators to identify the car and determine it was traveling toward the DeSoto Bridge. Roberts was taken into custody in Palmetto within 25 minutes of the shooting, according to the release.

Authorities said Roberts later agreed to be interviewed by detectives with the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit and was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday.
Roberts faces charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, police said.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website, Roberts is being held at the Manatee County Jail without bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
