Federal agents have raided a property associated with Robert Shinn, the Shekinah Church pastor featured in Netflix’s 2024 docuseries Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Citing authorities, the outlet reported that the raid on Friday, July 25, was related to an investigation into multiple accusations, including sex trafficking and money laundering. Shinn is one of several owners linked to the house, which is located in the Tujunga neighborhood of California.
The Netflix series examined two institutions headed by Shinn: his Shekinah Church and social media management company 7M Films, which he ran with his son Isaiah and wife Hannah. Shinn and 7M films came under scrutiny in 2022, when 7M dancer Miranda Derrick’s family publicly claimed she was in a cult and being kept from speaking to or seeing them.
Other families, former dancers for 7M Films and ex-members of the Shekinah Church, followed with similar allegations against Shinn and his organizations. Their accusations range from sexual abuse to financial misconduct, labor violations, alienation and coercive control — all of which Shinn, his associates, 7M and the Shekinah Church vehemently deny.
Per the L.A. Times, the El Monte Police Department and the FBI assisted agents from the U.S. Postal Service, Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Department of Labor, who served a warrant at the property around 6 a.m. PST.
The news report also included a prepared statement by Postal Inspector Patricia Mendoza, who said officials intend to release more details as the investigation progresses.
