A New York City man is accused of murdering a woman and a toddler before stabbing himself.
The New York City Police Department alleged in a press release that Ernesto Cruz, 54, stabbed Ana Pilatagsi-Moposita, 41, and 2-year-old Analiz Cruz in a home in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens on Saturday, July 19.
Pilatagsi-Moposita and Analiz suffered stab wounds to the chest and neck and were both taken to the hospital in critical condition. Both were later pronounced dead, the NYPD said.
Cruz was taken to the hospital in stable condition with a stab wound to the chest. He was later charged with two counts each of murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

It is not immediately clear if Cruz has retained an attorney or entered a plea.
Citing police, WABC reported that Cruz was married to Pilatagsi-Moposita and was the father of Analiz.
WABC and WNBC reported, citing sources, that a relative called 911 after Cruz called them on FaceTime during the attack.
