The family of a 37-year-old dad in England has released a heartbreaking tribute message as police confirmed two men had been arrested following a fatal house fire.

On Friday, Sept. 19 shortly before 1:10 a.m. local time, emergency services were called to a property on Saxons Way, Highters Heath in the U.K. city of Birmingham, according to a West Midlands Police press release.

Daniel Gardner “was found seriously injured and taken to hospital but tragically died a short time later,” the release stated.

Police confirmed that an 18-year-old man, who hasn’t been named, had been arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, Sept. 21, and remained in custody on Monday, Sept. 22.

The release stated that a second man, Stephen Dale, 47, had previously been arrested and had since been charged with murder. The suspect appeared before Birmingham Magistrates on Monday, and a further hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The victim’s family released an emotional tribute following Gardner’s death, with the message being shared by police.

“Daniel, devoted son, daddy, brother, and nephew. Words cannot describe the unbearable pain and devastation we all feel,” Gardner’s loved ones said, per the release.

“You gave everything and never expected anything in return,” they added. “Gives me comfort that you are with Nan & Grandad now who will once again look after you for me.”

“My heart will always be broken but I hope I can find the strength to carry on without you,” the tribute continued.

The family concluded, “All my love is with you Dan. Miss you every minute of the day. Mum & Nick Ryan & Liv Elliot & Charlie Lynn & Phi.”
