The hospital that employs Monique Tepe’s ex-husband has issued a statement following his arrest in connection with the killings of Monique and her husband Spencer Tepe.
Michael David McKee, 39, was arrested over the weekend on murder charges days after Monique, 39, and Spencer, 37, were found slain in their Columbus, Ohio, home.
McKee was briefly married to Monique in 2015, before she filed for divorce in 2017, per court filings reviewed by PEOPLE.
McKee, a vascular surgeon, was an employee at the OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Ill., at the time of the killings.
In a statement to PEOPLE on Monday, Jan. 13, the center said, “OSF is cooperating with authorities who will provide any further information.”

The center directed further questions to law enforcement.

Monique and Spencer, who met online, got married in 2020.
On the morning of Dec. 30, following several requests for a wellness check from Spencer’s co-workers, police found the couple deceased from gunshot wounds.
Their two children, ages 4 and 1, were inside the residence and, per police estimate, were alone for hours with the bodies; they were physically unharmed.

McKee has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder, per court documents obtained by PEOPLE. He was initially arrested on murder charges, which were upgraded on Sunday, Jan. 11.
He appeared in an Illinois court on Monday and waived his right to an extradition hearing, PEOPLE previously reported, and his lawyer said he plans to enter pleas of not guilty.
